Savvy Bay Area Date Nights

I'm excited to partner with LiveHealth Online on this post.  As a mom, I'm always looking for things that will make things more efficient or easier for me, so that I can enjoy more time with my kids and my husband.  The LiveHealth Online App is one of those things that can save me time, which allows us to enjoy more of our time together whether it is as a family or as a couple.  It makes me feel good about taking care of the health of my family in a way that fits our busy lifestyle but with confidence that I'm getting good advice from a qualified primary doctor.

LiveHealth Online asked me to share some of my favorite date night ideas with you if you live in the Bay Area:

#1: Ferry Building (San Francisco) - Ferry over to the Ferry Building if you don't live in San Francisco and enjoy shopping in the amazing line up of local artisans from all over the Bay Area.  Then enjoy some Vietnamese food at the famous Slanted Door by Chef Charles Phan with it's gorgeous view of the Bay Bridge.  If you don't get too full and decide not to do dessert at Slanted Door, try one of Humphry Slocombe's creative ice cream flavors.

#2: Mill Valley (Marin) - Enjoy a delicious farm to table meal at Molina in this quaint space that makes you feel like you are in Chef Todd Shoberg's own house.  Get a spot at the bar where you can watch them cook everything on the menu in their wood-fired oven.  After dinner, head on over to Sweetwater Music Hall to here one of your favorite bands play live.  This music hall has been open for over forty years and has had some amazing musicians grace it's stage.

#3: Mission (San Francisco) - Get fresh pastas and other Italian tasty dishes from Farina in the Mission (if it is a nice night they have a gorgeous roof deck space to dine at).  After dinner instead of waiting in a long line at Bi-Rite Creamery, head over to Bi-Rite Market and pick up a pint of their ice cream (Salted Caramel is my favorite) to go along with two spoons.

#4: Off The Grid at Fort Mason (San Francisco) - Off the Grid has many different events all over the Bay Area, but Off the Grid at Fort Mason (along with Off the Grid Picnic at the Presidio) are two of my favorite spots.  Go for a sunset walk down Crissy Field while you watch the sun drop behind the Golden Gate.  Then head over to Fort Mason to taste an abundance of different food trucks.  From pork buns, peruvian sandwiches to creme brûlée carts and cupcake trucks.

#5: Ferry over to Marin Country Mart (Marin) - Jump on the ferry at the Ferry Building in San Francisco and head on over to Larkspur.  Come a little bit early to make sure you can shop in some of their luxury shops including: SpaceNK, Hudson Grace, Calypso St. Barth and Intermix. After shopping, you can choose from fresh cocktails, wood-fired pizzas and farm fresh entrees at Farmshop or some of the best meat and a pretty amazing burger at BelCampo Meats.

What are some of your favorite date night ideas?  Share with me in the comments below!

Waterlogue Watercolor iPhone App

I just found out about the Waterlogue app on Thursday and now I'm officially obsessed with it.  It takes any of your pictures and turns them into a watercolor painting.  As you can tell, I've tried it out on a "couple" of photos.  It might have to be taken away from me because I want to Waterlogue everything!  I'm going to try to order a couple of these as prints or canvases to see how they come out.  I will let you know how they come out.

So go forth and Waterlogue to your heart's content!

Cheers,

Do You Viddy or Vine?

Viddy App

Vine App
Have you heard of Vine, a video social media app, that went viral over the last month?  I felt compelled to join and check out this app that gives you a live glimpse into other's worlds for seven seconds.  It's fun and seems to be catching on, but there are things that definitely can be approved upon.  There are no editing features and the sound can be irritating when you piece things together.  Then I found out about another video app called, Viddy.  It allows you to take 30 second videos (continuously or pieces here and there).  What I love about Viddy is that you can add filters while or after filming your video and then add music to cover up the choppy noise if you filmed it in pieces.

Which video apps do you use? Which do you prefer?

Cheers,

ALT Prep

I have been having fun with the Labelbox app on my iPhone! I thought I would use it to show you some of my ALT prep and new purchases for my trip to Utah next week!  I still have a lot of things to do to get ready for my trip, but at least I am starting to check some of the items of my to-do list! I am also still trying to figure out what to wear to the Winter Wonderland Party.  If you are going, what are you wearing?

My newest iPhone app obsession is PostalPix! Finally a place to make all of my iPhone pictures come to life.  I take A LOT of pictures and most of them are on my iPhone when I am not carrying my big camera.  I have thousands on there and I have had to clean it out multiple times.

It is a very simple to use this free app - select your photos, pick the size you want (I printed out 4x4 - which I am loving), pay and then your photos are processed and mailed to you! It is that easy!  I love all of these little moments captured and I love putting them all together in collage form. I am still trying to figure out the best way to display them.

The first couple pictures are the some of my iPhone pictures that I received from PostalPix and the last two pictures are ideas I found on Pinterest for displaying the pictures. What are you favorite ways to display your iPhone pictures?

Another iPhone App I Love

One of my favorite apps on my iPhone is my Amazon.com app. It has a scan barcode feature that I use ALL THE TIME to look up the current price of a product on Amazon.com. When I am out shopping and I see a book or product that they sell in multiple stores, I will quickly open up my Amazon.com app, scan the barcode and see if Amazon.com has a better price for it. If they do and you like it, you can add it to your wish list, add it to your cart and buy later or even buy it right there from your iPhone. I used this app the other day when I was in Anthropologie and saw the Domino: The Book of Decorating coffee table book there. It was retailing for $32.00 plus tax at Anthropologie and Amazon had it for $19.75, no tax and free shipping with Amazon Prime/Amazon Mom (whole other blog post). Usually I throw a bunch of items in my "cart" and then when I get home I look over what I added and decide if I want to buy it or not. It obviously doesn't work for everything - specifically clothing, etc., but it does work for a lot of other items.  Happy Shopping!
