Cheers to the Weekend

Charlotte rocking her Rikshaw Design Morrocan Kurta (it's on sale right now)!
Can you believe that it is already October?  How did this happen?  This week was busy and flew by! Ready for an exciting weekend with the husband!

I joined the gym this week (BABY WEIGHT BE GONE).  This cute little munchkin above is over one and this extra baby weight needs to go away.  So I'm taking it head on at the gym.  Now that Landon is in Kindergarten and Tatum is going to preschool two days a week, I feel like I can get a real routine established and get myself into the gym three to four times a week.  I'm ready to take my body back after being pregnant/breast feeding for six years (WHAT).

I also met the adorable Mollie from byLangley and had the privilege to view some of her favorite items from her online boutique for lingerie and loungewear.  I love her philosophies on loungewear for women - feeling comfortable but feminine at the same time! More on this later!!

This weekend Carlos and I are having a mini staycation in San Francisco!  Friends are throwing a dinner party tonight at Spruce and Carlos and I opted to get a hotel in Union Square and make a mini staycation out of it (thanks Mimi and Papa)!!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Cheers,

Cheers to the Weekend

I was just at Nordstrom and found these in the kids shoe section! STOP IT!  The perfect way to start your littlest one's addiction to shoes!  Doesn't every girl deserve her first pair of shoes to be Stuart Weitzman

This weekend is kind of a mellow weekend - which I am really looking forward to.  Landon has his soccer practice on Saturday and I have a family photo shoot in the Presidio on Sunday.  But other than that, we don't have any obligations.  Sometimes it's nice to have a low key weekend ahead of you!

Next week is a pretty busy week with a lot of fun events to attend!  I'm beyond thrilled to be interviewing Trina Turk in person next week!  She is going to be at Neiman Marcus in Walnut Creek showing her Fall Collection 2012 and previewing her holiday collection from 2-3pm on Thursday, September 20th.  Any questions that you would like me to ask her when I interview her?  Let me know!

What are your plans for the weekend? Busy or low-key? '

P.S. I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 last night at midnight!!!!!! The photographer in me has been patiently waiting for this new release to replace my iPhone 4 with it's lackluster camera. EXCITED!!! Anyone else order the iPhone 5?

CHEERS!

Comfortable in my own skin

We are trying to get adjusted back to our routine now that we are back from Maui.  (It's really hard to adjust to that three hour time difference).  At least school doesn't start for another week and a half so we have some time to adjust.  I have a lot of pictures to share with you from our Maui trip, but I wanted to share a little revelation I had while in Maui.  Maybe not so much a revelation, but more of a comfort level.

In the past, when we have gone to Maui, I've been so self conscious of how I have looked in my bathing suit while on the beach.  Is everyone staring at the baby weight I need to lose? My pale skin? Humidity ravaged curls?  But this time was different.  I was sitting on the beach letting the waves come up and lap at Charlotte and I and I've never felt so comfortable.  I looked out at the water and watched Landon, Tatum and Carlos run around in the waves and was so incredibly happy.  I didn't care who could see my extra 25 lbs of baby weight that I need to lose, the new wrinkles that are forming as I turn another year older or my wind and humidity ravaged curls.  I just cared that I was 100% present in this moment, this experience that we were all having and that was all I needed.

Now that I am home, I wish I could say the same thing.  The old insecurities and pressure we put on ourselves is slowly creeping back in, but I am happy that for eight days in Maui, I was able to let go of all that and enjoy being me!  Need to work on being that comfortable in my own skin all the time!

HONEST to Goodness

Have you heard of The Honest Company?  It's the brain child of Jessica Alba and Christopher Gavigan.  After having kids, they saw a real need for eco-friendly options for their kids - diapers, wipes, bath and body products and cleaning supplies.

They wanted to create products that had savvy style (you know I like that), sustainability and extraordinary service along with social goodness.  What makes it even better is that you can set it up to deliver to your house every month (save you one extra trip to the store).  You can buy the products individually or you can save by bundling up five products together. Every month you can go to their website and select which five products you want bundled together or keep the same from the previous month.  It allows you to try all of the products out and see which ones you like best.

My favorites so far are the hand soap, hand sanitizer (love the smell and the feel compared to other ones out there), dish soap, shampoo & body wash and the body lotion (I've been a Burt's Bees fan for a long time but am liking the Honest products more) for the kids.

I am still trying to decide how I feel about the diapers and the wipes.  I love the prints (there are many to choose from) and the fact that they are made with non-toxic and chlorine-free sustainable plant-based materials.  To be honest the only thing I am not crazy about is the price.  I have been using Pampers for all three kids and they are definitely more economical.  Their wipes are also not my favorite because they don't seem as soft as the Pampers ones I am using now.

They have a great trial kit that they will send to you with some diapers, wipes and travel size samples of five of their products.  I signed up for trial kit and then I was hooked!

What are some of your favorite natural products that you use in your house or for your kids?

UPDATE (2/26/12): They have since changed their wipes to be thicker and I like using them now!
