Warby Parker

I have been more than thrilled with the ease of the Warby Parker experience!  It's as easy as going online and choosing five frames that you would like to have sent to your home (two day shipping) to try on.  You have five days to decide on a frame and then you order them online and return the sample frames (with an enclosed return postage).  The best part of Warby Parker is that all frames are $95 including your prescription AND they donate a pair to a person in need for every pair ordered!  They even have non-prescription sunglasses too!  I ordered five pairs for me to try on and five pairs for Carlos too.  Now...the only dilemma I have his which pair to choose.  Okay hipsters, which pair do you guys like best?

After Christmas Sales {Kate Spade, Zara, JCrew & Madewell}

There are some amazing sales that happened before Christmas that make it hard for me to focus on the task at hand (shopping for others and ignoring the fabulous sale prices on all the things I am loving)!  But if you hold out, the sales get even better after Christmas!!

Carlos has had this week off between Christmas and New Years and we have been able to do some fun activities with the bambinos (Discovery Museum and Zoo).  So, yesterday, Carlos and I had a very RARE day date without the kids!  We had lunch at Bun Mee, hit up some of the fabulous sales at Kate Spade (40% off certain items), Nordstrom (Men's Half Yearly Sale), Zara (practically the entire store is on sale), JCrew (additional 30% off women's sale items) and Madewell (additional 30% off sale items), pre-dinner drink at Spruce and then dinner at Chapeau (where we had our very first date over nine years ago - will blog more about Chapeau later).

Above are some of my scores from our shopping extravaganza (Carlos got a pair of shoes at Nordstrom - but I figured you didn't need to see those).  The tote and clutch from Zara I had been eyeing for awhile and was excited to get them both on sale. I exchanged a larger tote at Kate Spade that I got for Christmas and was able to get the black tote plus the earrings and bracelet I had been wanting!  Love the bright blue sequin and brown crew neck sweater I bought at JCrew at 30%off.  The snood (because can you ever have enough snoods) from Madewell was a steal at $14.  I definitely have to say that shopping is a WHOLE LOT EASIER without three kids in tow!  It was a really fun day date for us!

Is everyone getting ready for New Years Eve? What are your plans for NYE?

Birchbox Bounty - November

Here are my latest goodies from Birchbox!  I am IN LOVE with my Vanille Insensee from Atelier Cologne!  It smells divine!  I am very particular about perfume because a lot of them give me a headache if they are too strong.  I am also normally not a vanilla scent person but this vanilla isn't too sweet, there are a lot of amber notes to it mixed with  jasmine, lime and coriander.  I was also excited to see that I received a bottle of Zoya nail polish.  I had been wanting to try out their nail polish since they are free of formaldehyde, tuolene and dibutyl phthalate.  Zoya is also supposed to last 50% longer than other nail polishes.  Tatum is testing it out on her cute little toes, so I will have to let you know how long it lasts.  Hope everyone has had a good start to their short holiday week!

Heidi Says....Eat A Burger at Spruce

Last month (I know I am so behind in blogging), the girls met up at Heidi Says (who just celebrated their 10th anniversary) for a little retail therapy and then headed over to Spruce for a cocktail and to try their famous burger at the bar.

Erin of Apartment 34, Jeanne of Shop Sweet Things, Chelsi of Designer File, Caitlin of Sacramento Street and I all had our GiltCity gift certificates to Heidi Says that we had to use before the end of the month.  I ended up buying two pairs of earrings that were both done by local San Francisco artist, Jennifer Tuton.  I love the dangly gold and amethyst teardrop earrings and the hammered gold discs are such a good everyday earring.

After our shopping excursion, we headed over to Spruce for our cocktail (mine included strawberries, basil and black pepper) and for our burger.  If you click on the link above it will take you to the Spruce burger recipe, but I swear there is still a missing ingredient.  There is some type of herb in the burger - maybe tarragon, but I can't be for sure. Everything was super delicious even down to the duck fat french fries!

We have decided to do this girls night out excursion every couple of months - pick a boutique in a different neighborhood in San Francisco and then head to a delicious restaurant afterwards. Next we might need to head to the Mission to check out Locanda on Jeanne's recommendation and then hit up MiraMira.

A Little Sparkle

You all know that I have never been able to get over the fact that I didn't purchase these Kate Spade glitter heels back in March when I was RIDICULOUSLY pregnant.  It especially hurt when Kate Spade decided to bring them back in their fall line again at $325.00 and I had a chance to buy them at $175.00.  But I think I found some alternative glittery goodness in these new Steven by Steve Madden shoes!  Nordstrom is having their Half-Yearly Sale for women and children right now through this Sunday, so I picked these sparkly slip-ons for a steal!  Much more realistic for a mom of three to be wearing these to the Academy of Sciences instead of the Kate Spade Charm Heels! What do you think?

Hunter Boots on Sale at Gilt

In anticipation of the rain that is supposed to hit San Francisco today, GILT has Hunter boots on sale today for quite a steal! $79-$89 for regularly priced $159-$175.  Would it be awful to own two pairs (I already have a pair of pink)?

Making a Statement - David Aubrey

Chelsi of Designer File and myself

I bought this gorgeous David Aubrey statement necklace a couple weeks ago from Gilt!  I wore it last night to the San Francisco Blogger Soiree that Lindsay & Caitlin organized at Swig and it was a big hit.  I thought I would share with everyone where I bought it and who the designer was.  I absolutely love all of his statement necklaces - from the colors to the textures. What do you think? Are you a statement necklace gal?

My New Habit

I subscribe to so many designer sample sale sites that offer designer clothing, shoes, accessories and furnishings, that I sometimes get overwhelmed with my inbox!  But I have recently found a new one that I am loving for so many reasons.  MYHABIT was founded by Amazon.com (a site that I receive shipments from on a weekly basis for diapers, books, electronics, toys, etc) and offers private fashion sale for designer pieces up to 60% off.

MYHABIT caught my eye the other day because they were having a Rebecca Minkoff handbag sale and it was perfect timing because I was wanting to treat myself to one of her yummy bags.  I really wanted the snakeskin M.A.C. handbag, but I was put on their wait list, because the items go quickly.  I was able to snag this shimmery silver clutch for $118!! That's right....I purchased my M.A.C. bag that I have been wanting since Chanda won this one at the Chloe Rose Boutique Anniversary Party for only $118, regularly $295!  Needless to say I was pretty proud of myself!

What I like best about MYHABIT:
  • The selection of designers has really stood out to me (today D&G by Dolce & Gabbana is on their site and tomorrow they are doing a M for Missoni sale (take that Target))
  • Most of the items are RETURNABLE!  I am always cautious about ordering from the other websites because most of them are non-returnable.
  • Shipping is super fast! I ordered this last Tuesday and I received it on Thursday! Nice to be able to tap into the amazing delivery system that Amazon has access to!
Go check out MYHABIT and happy shopping!
